Honouring the Body
is a matter of understanding that our body is a living tempel

Take care of your body. Know that the body is the container of our soul, our consciousness. I feel gratitude towards my body, since it allows me to express myself in the physical world, and it allows myself to grow in consciousness. I must treat each cell of my body as a tempel. Our body is a sacred tempel.

With this respect and gratitude towards our body, we will feel more ready to help it, to nurture it, to take care of it. There are thousands of things that can be done to mantain our tempel in harmony, clean and fresh.

Doing some sport, breathing fresh air, taking a warm bath, eating healthy, keeping the muscles and our backbone flexible,  etc. are ways to honour our body. But the most important thing is not what we do, but how we do it. We can eate an apple while honouring the apple’s body and our body, and then you are contributing to Global Peace.

I want to share with you how running can make a difference in world peace, according to Sri Chinmoy. Sports, particularly running, are central to Sri Chinmoy's philosophy. He believes that running is a outer expression of each human being's personal struggle to achieve perfection.

Try to be a runner, and try all the time to surpass and go beyond all that is bothering you and standing in your way," he teaches his students. "Be a real runner so that ignorance, limitations and imperfections will all drop behind you in the race.

Every two years, over one million people in more than 100 countries join together in the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run.
Peace starts with each individual. In our hearts we know peace can happen but only if we step beyond ourselves and recognize the oneness of humanity. The Peace Run symbolizes this giant step.
Anyone can join - athletes and non athletes, old and young alike. You too! All it takes is a commitment to peace. Each person who holds or runs with the Peace Torch lights a path for those who follow. Each time the Torch is passed the flame of oneness burns a little brighter. As the Torch travels from nation to nation across mountains and deserts, through great cities and tiny villages we're reminded of our basic oneness...and the world moves closer to true peace.

Peace can only happen with your help. So take a step for something you believe in... and be a part of the Peace Run.
